The president of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), Alejandro Blanco, assured this Friday that “there will be Games and Spain will shine before the world”, during a meeting with athletes who he encouraged for their preparation and reported on the health measures to be adopted in Tokyo.
“Spain is a great power in sport, the first in sports team. And it is thanks to you and your effort. Work is being done to keep the Olympic Village as a bubble to guarantee your safety. That is why I want to tell you to keep up the illusion because we will be parading in Tokyo on July 23. There will be Games and Spain will shine again before the world, “he said.
Blanco, together with the president of the Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM), José Luis Mendoza, held a telematic meeting with a large number of athletes included in the project of both institutions to be able to combine their higher studies with their sports careers, among which 19 Olympic and 10 Paralympic medalists attended.
The COE recalled that in Tokyo more than 60 athletes who are part of it could participate, to which Mendoza indicated that with their “effort” they are “an example” for thousands of children and he highlighted the work of the committee and the university in a project “that there is not in any country.”
