Binterhas closed a financing agreement with a banking consortium composed of the main Spanish banks,Santander, Caixabank, BBVA, Bankia and Banco Sabadell, to finance its fleet expansion program.
The vice president of Binter,Rodolfo Núñez, YAlfredo Morales, CEO, signed last Friday in Gran Canaria the agreement with representatives of the five banking entities. Through this operation, the airline will invest more than 342 million dollars in the purchase of several E195-E2 aircraft, the first acquired by a European airline, which will serve to improve the connectivity of the Canary Islands with the international destinations with which the airline operates, making it possible to continue advancing in its expansion in Africa.
"We are facing a contract that will mean an important economic effort for Binter to improve the travel of our clients and that we will finance thanks to abanking consortium made up of Santander, Caixabank, BBVA, Bankia and Banco Sabadell"said Rodolfo Núñez, vice president of Binter.
TheBinter's fleet expansion programincludes the firm acquisition of three Embraer E195-E2 aircraft and the option to purchase two others, as well as replacement engines, equipment, personnel training or stock of spare parts, among other details.
Therenewal of the Binter fleetit has been a constant since the company was acquired by Canarian businessmen, in 2002. Since then, the airline has acquired 36 new aircraft, all from the manufacturer ATR, in an operation of more than 700 million euros.
Thanks to this important investment effort, Binter has established itself as the airline with one of the most modern and young fleets in Europe.
