In 2005, FC United was born in Manchester, a football club promoted by former partners of the almighty Manchester United. It was a rebellion of fans of the British club against the sale of the team to the Glazer family. It is currently a modest club in the English seventh division but it became a symbol that has promoted many other clubs in Europe where the shareholders are the fans themselves and certain values alien to “modern football” are upheld. That demonstration of protest has led to similar initiatives in other countries, also in Spain, driven by nostalgia for football where companies and investment funds stayed away from teams.
