Beach and mountains are filled with citizens walking and sunbathing in Catalonia

While the streets of the center and the neighborhoods of Barcelona loomed almost deserted this Sunday, the beaches and the mountains offered totally opposite images with families walking, cyclists and 'runners', on a sunny day that seems to defy the confinement ordered by the Government.

The decree of the state of alarm approved by the Spanish Executive to prevent the spread of the coronavirus limits the movements of citizens, who can only leave home basically to go to work, buy food or take care of minors or dependent people.

Going for a walk or running, cycling or simply sunbathing on the beach are not activities included in any of the exceptions provided by the government decree, which is why patrols of the Urban Guard and the Mossos d'Esquadra have been dedicated today to remember the restrictions to all those who have surprised bypassing them.

On the beaches of Villa Olímpica and Barceloneta, the influx of people has been important throughout the morning, many walking, some practicing yoga and others sitting in front of the sea without respecting even the safety distance of one and a half meters between them , according to Efe.

Public order patrols inform citizens of their duties to help curb the coronavirus and warn them that, as of tomorrow, these behaviors will be punishable.

At the other end of the city, on the Collserola mountain, the Mossos have also stopped more than one cyclist, many in groups, to remind them of the prohibitions, and hundreds of people have been seen walking.

To curb these behaviors and facilitate confinement, the Barcelona City Council has already ordered the closure of parks and gardens and the Diputación, which manages many of the city's green areas and surroundings, did the same yesterday.
