It’s good to be 8, 10 years old again, and ride on the “Vacation at sea” cruise, where nothing bad could happen to you, where the crew seemed to be perpetually low the effects of some psychotropic pill; and see two very cool guys, “Starsky and Hutch,” with ways that the political correctness did not even have the lining to arrest the thugs of the Californian streets without telling: and enjoy “Fantasy Island,” where the enigmatic Mr. Roarke and his assistant Tattoo made dreams come true in a luxurious resort of some millionaire clients.
Time has passed, we are no longer children and the world has become corseted, as if inside, while that tacky television happiness in a white tuxedo is now transformed into darkness and summertime postcards, into a cinematographic “remake” that sometimes recalls the bloody saga «Saw» although it also has a sense of humor not always intended. After winning a contest, several people arrive at a paradise island where their inhabitants can make a wish come true related to their own lives. But watch out for the prayers attended, because sometimes they turn into nightmares with no return that the Devil carries. A last, supernatural and capricious explanation supports the film that, unfortunately, does not get us to forget that any past time was better. And if they were 70 and 80, I don’t even tell them.
The best: It is not a memorable horror film, but it has achieved moments, such as the part that takes place in the basement
Worst: The stories gathered are very uneven; In addition, they could have linked them as well or as they would have liked
