The big listed companies of the Ibex have coordinated and joined forces to help the authorities in the fight against the coronavirus. Telefónica, Inditex, Santander, BBVA and Iberdrola have announced or are preparing million-dollar donations for the purchase of material and medical equipment necessary to try to contain the pandemic. In line with Telefónica and Santander, which have already announced the creation of a fund of 25 million euros each, BBVA has announced this Wednesday that it will donate the same amount to fight the disease, supporting health authorities and social organizations in their various markets, as well as promoting scientific research.
Of those 25 million euros, the bank chaired by Carlos Torres has already used three million for the acquisition of 1,043 respirators and 400,000 masks in China, from where they will be transferred to Spain through the Inditex supply chain, which is the company of the Ibex that has that delivery capacity from the Asian giant. Once in Spain, this material will be delivered to the health authorities.
