Barcelona-Figueres AVE circulation restored after yesterday's breakdown



ADIF technicians have finished repairing at dawn the electrical breakdown that since 07.40 hours yesterday affected the circulation of the AVE between Barcelona and Figueres (Girona), so that since the early hours of this Saturday the railway traffic has been completely restored.

Renfe has reported that the breakdown, located in a tunnel between the stations of La Sagrera and Sants in Barcelona, ​​has been able to be repaired in full by 04.45 hours, which has allowed recovering the circulation by both routes and completely normalize the service.

The breakdown occurred around 07.40 hours yesterday and left the railway section between Sants and Bifurcació Mollet out of service, affecting 15 trains and about 4,000 passengers, interrupting the Barcelona-Girona-Figueres high-speed service and causing delays in the AVE Barcelona -Madrid.

About 15.24 hours, the technicians were able to solve part of the incident, which allowed recovering the circulation through one of the roads.

During the hours in which the service was affected, Renfe directed passengers with Figueres and Girona origin or destination to regional trains and those who had to travel on international trains were offered to travel in regional to Girona and from there link with the high speed.

The railway company has ensured that, while the incident has lasted, it has mobilized "all its technical, material and human resources" to guarantee the mobility of travelers.
