Banco Santander has launched a new alert for
phishing
(a phishing attempt) via email. The entity asked its clients to be careful if they receive an email that seems to have been sent by them.

In a post on Twitter, the bank gives more details on how to avoid this type of scam, but as a precautionary measure it asks users to avoid "downloading any file even if it says that it is sent to you by Santander."

Alert #Phishing via email! ⚠️ 💻

👀 BEWARE if you receive an email like this. It is NOT an invoice, but a 'malware'.

Avoid downloading any file even if it says that it is sent to you by 'Santander'.

According to the entity, email is the means most used by cybercriminals to attack you with 'phishing' techniques. Specifically, every day more than 100,000 people suffer attacks of this type throughout the world.

To avoid falling into the traps of cybercriminals, Banco Santander recommends paying attention to details that can give us clues about the falsity of the email, such as the sender's Sunday, alarmist subjects, misspellings or little personalization.

In addition, the bank advises not to trust when personal or bank details are requested in the message and not to download files or attachments that may introduce a virus into our device.
