Ayuso rules out leading the PP after a conversation with Feijóo, who calls for an "urgent solution"

The clamp hangs over Pablo Casado. The presidents of Madrid and Galicia, Isabel Díaz Ayuso and Alberto Núñez Feijóo, spoke on Sunday night about the future of the PP. This Monday, while Casado meets with his most faithful collaborators at the national headquarters on Génova Street in Madrid, the former has insisted that he has no intention of competing for the state leadership of the party and the latter, without fully revealing his cards , has called for an "urgent" solution to the "situation of collapse" of the PP.

The conversation between the two most important regional barons of the PP took place on Sunday, as reported by El Periódico de Catalunya and confirmed by elDiario.es. The details of the remote meeting have not been disclosed, but the reaction of both on Monday morning is clear. Ayuso maintains his decision, expressed on multiple occasions, not to run for the national leadership of the PP. "My place is in Madrid" is a phrase that the regional president has repeatedly pronounced since last fall. The first time was at the PP national convention, before an auditorium full of party cadres, including Casado himself and his number two, Teodoro García Egea, who has become Ayuso's main enemy ever since.

In statements to the media Ayuso has claimed an "absolute turnaround" in the match. Feijóo, for his part, said this Monday: "Decisions have to be made. They will not be easy, they will be complex, but they must be urgent." The Galician president, who already sounded in 2018 to run for the primaries although in the end he did not, has described the current situation of the party as one of "collapse".

The Galician's options are currently rising as an alternative if Casado falls, but also if he barricades himself on the seventh floor of the building, on sale for a year, which houses the headquarters of the national PP and that of the Madrid PP.

Feijóo's options are increasingly evident. "We have to live up to our country. We owe it to our militants and to all Spaniards," the president of the New Generations of Galicia and deputy of the regional Parliament, Adrián Pardo, assured on Twitter. A comment that accompanies a manifesto that demands the appointment of a manager that leads the party to a congress that elects a new leadership.

Meanwhile, Casado continues to meet with his Management Committee. An appointment to which the national spokesman and mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez Almeida, has not appeared, in a gesture that delves into the division of the national president's team. Almeida was the person that Casado interposed between Ayuso and the presidency of the PP in Madrid.

Nor does the Andalusian president, Juan Manuel Moreno, want to have any public presence that relates him to what is happening. Moreno has canceled the celebration of Andalusia Day that was to be held this Tuesday in Madrid, in the same way that he was not present at the closing of Alfonso Fernández Mañueco's campaign, on February 11, nor in the following days.

The Andalusian president has to face the polls this year, and the situation of the PP takes him away from his objective: to govern alone without depending on Vox. What his partner Mañueco has not achieved in Castilla y León.
