The Council of Ministers today approved the new extension of the temporary employment regulation files (ERTE) and the benefit for the cessation of activity of the self-employed until May 31, vital measures to mitigate the harsh impact of the pandemic on the job. Both measures will cost 7 billion for public coffers: 5,000 million from ERTE and 2,000 from the protection of the self-employed. 704,000 people still depend on them in ERTE, of which 450,000 are in some of the modalities that entail exonerations to Social Security. Some 193,000 people are in ERTE of “ultra-protected” sectors and close to 50,000 in its value chain.
