At least nine dead when a passenger plane crashed in Almaty



At least nine people were killed and as many were injured when a passenger plane crashed on Friday after taking off from the airport of the Kazakh city of Almaty, the Emergency Committee of the Interior Ministry of Kazakhstan reported.

"According to preliminary data, nine people were killed and nine others were injured, including six children," said spokesman Nursultán Nurajmétov.

The device, a Fokker 100 belonging to the Kazakh company Bek Air with 100 people on board -95 passengers and five crew, crashed as soon as it took off.
