At least 86 killed in fighting between ISIS and Kurdish militias in Syria

At least 86 people were killed between Friday and today, Saturday, in fighting between the terrorist group Islamic State (IS) and the Democratic Syrian Forces (FSD), militias led by Kurds in northeastern Syria, activists said today.

The FSD, an alliance supported by the international coalition, had at least 47 casualties in the fighting, while 39 jihadists died, according to the count of the Syrian Observatory of Human Rights.

The NGO, based in Britain but with observers on the ground, said that the jihadists launched a major attack on FSD positions near the oil field of Al Tank, located in the province of Deir al Zur.

Since Friday, fighting has been taking place in the towns of Al Bahra and Garanij, located in the same province, near the banks of the Euphrates.

The FSD launched an offensive against the last redoubt of the jihadists in Deir el Zur in September and the fighting has intensified in recent weeks.

This armed alliance counts on the air coverage of the international coalition and the support of the US special forces in the field.
