A fire in an abandoned warehouse in Badalona has resulted in at least 17 injured, five of them seriously, as confirmed by the Medical Emergency Service (SEM). The fire originated in an abandoned ship in which, according to the Bombers de la Generalitat, several people resided who are trying to evacuate.
The warning of the fire, which was still active at the time of publication of this text, was given around 9 p.m. and 20 fire crews and 16 SEM units have moved to the place, which have already transferred the four seriously injured to different hospitals. The SEM has also installed a Mobile Health Care Area in the vicinity of the place. The Minister of the Interior, Miquel Sàmper, has also announced that he was on his way to the place to find out the situation of the incident.
The ship consists of a ground floor and three floors and the fire is on the top floor, firefighters report. The venue is located on the corner of Calle Guifré and Calle Tortosa, between the Gorg and Sant Roc neighborhoods.
