At least 11 dead when two vehicles collided in the Mexican state of Chiapas

At least 11 people died and seven others were injured when a public transport vehicle and a private car crashed this Sunday on a highway in the Mexican state of Chiapas, in the southeast of the country, the State Attorney General’s Office reported.

According to Civil Protection, a vehicle struck head-on against a tourist van occupied by a family whose destination was the municipality of San Cristóbal de las Casas.

The accident occurred at kilometer 35 of the Ocozocoautla-Arriaga highway, in the municipality of Jiquilpas, Chiapas.

Prosecutor Jorge Luis Llaven Abarca said that a special group of the Prosecutor’s Office, made up of public ministries, police and experts, arrived at the scene to initiate the investigation proceedings in order to clarify the facts and clarify the responsibilities.
