Assassin's Creed Odyssey streaming Google: Google disembarks in video games with 'Assassin's Creed Odyssey' in 'streaming' | Technology

Google landed this week in the video game industry, the main entertainment sector with revenues of 100,000 million euros last year, more than the sum of cinema and series, and with an 80% growth since 2013. It does so in testing phase, but in a big way, with Assassin's Creed Odyssey in streaming, directly in the browser and without having to install anything on the devices. The test begins this Friday in a restricted, free and only in the United States, but it is the gateway to the games of higher graphic quality without the need of a console and anywhere.

The program with which Google starts in tests is similar to Nvidia's GeForceNOW, a cloud service that allows the use of triple A games, designed for computers, remotely and on television.

The main modalities of videogames range from free or low cost, designed for mobile phones and tablets (they are financed through advertising); the indies (independent, as 7 Days To Die or Minecraft in its beginnings, until it was acquired by Microsoft for 1,900 million euros); or the blockbusters, that suppose an interactive story of extraordinary graphic capacity and budgets superior to that of the movies ( Destiny It cost 380 million euros).

Google has opted for the latter, but in streaming, so it gives a radical turn to the market by making them accessible without downloads or linked to static equipment of large capacity. The landing announced by Google's product manager, Catherine Hsiao, who has informed that those who are chosen as testers can do so from Friday for free from conventional computers or laptops through Chrome.

"The media in streaming [a los que se acceden directamente en línea] They have transformed the way we consume music or videos, making instant access to our favorite content easier. It is a very complex technical process that has come a long way in recent years. But the next frontier will be a much higher demand than the video, "warns Hsiao.

The project, called Stream, suppose for Google to try to solve the biggest challenges of the game without downloads and greater processing needs due to its enormous graphic weight and the need for instant response to the actions of the users. It is one of the biggest differences in relation to the videos, which enjoy a few seconds of truce while the buffering load the movie. "In the case of high quality games, this process has to be reduced to milliseconds without graphical degradation", explains the director of Products.

If a user is interested in participating, Google has arranged a page of requests on its website. You need a minimum connection of 25 megabits per second, live in the United States and be over 17 years.

Update Google Maps features

On the other hand, the company's map service has updated the application with functions for managing routes to work, with notifications about delays, the possibility of knowing the real-time location of the train or bus, as well as the integration with Spotify.

Maps now proposes the best time to leave home, the duration of the journey, the departure of the next train and reports of the times and unforeseen events.

Google has also announced the integration of music services streaming such as Spotify, Apple Music and Google Play Music in Maps, so that the user can control the lists and playback directly from the navigation in Maps. These updates will be available around the world next week, for both Android and iOS users.
