As the calendar for the 2022 Qatar World Cup – La Provincia

The opening match of Qatar World Football Championship 2022 will be disputed November 21 at the Al Bayt Stadium and the final will be on December 18 th at the Lusail Stadium, with capacity for 80,000 spectators, and the group stage will have 4 games a day, FIFA reported on Wednesday.

Two years after France won the world champion title at the Luzhnikí Stadium, FIFA presents the schedule of the next edition of the World Cup. At 13:00 (local time, 11:00 peninsular Spanish time) on November 21, 2022, the Al Bayt Stadium, with a capacity of 60,000 spectators, will be the scene of the opening match, which will have the host team as one of its protagonists.

The local times of the group stage matches have been set at 11:00, 14:00, 17:00 and 20:00 (Spanish peninsular time, two more hours in Qatar), while of the last day of this phase and the subsequent single-game playoffs will be played at 16:00 and 20:00. The Khalifa International Stadium will host the match for third place on December 17, while The final will be played at 4:00 p.m. the next day at the Lusail Stadium before 80,000 spectators.

In order for all the teams to have enough time to recover, the group phase will last twelve days and four games a day will be played.

The compact nature of the Qatari tournament, in which air travel will not be necessary, will allow the organizers for the first time to optimize the matches for the benefit of the fans, the teams and the media. For this, the stadium and the schedule of the matches of the group stage of each of the days will be decided after the conclusion of the final draw, scheduled for after the classification phase which ends in March 2022.

Once the pairings are known, the possibility to assign the best schedules depending on television audiences and also for fans traveling to Qatar. Furthermore, fans who visit Qatar will thus have the opportunity to watch more than one match in the group stage live on the same day.

The first tickets with associated preferential services will go on sale at the end of 2020, while the tickets for the general public, they can only be acquired through FIFA.com/tickets, where all the details regarding the dates, phases, categories and sale prices will be published shortly.
