The 53 immigrants of sub-Saharan origin – among them 12 women, 3 young children and at least another six children -, who have been rescued tonight by Maritime Rescue in the vicinity of the island of Alborán, have arrived in good health. to the port of Motril.
The immigrants rescued by the Guardamar Caliope have been treated tonight by the Red Cross on arrival at the port dock, with first healthcare and food.
According to sources from the humanitarian organization, Efe has been treated for one of the three women who were pregnant, and other immigrants with slight symptoms of hypothermia due to the low temperatures during the trip.
The woman, who is eight months pregnant, could be transferred to a hospital in the next few hours for a routine check-up.
According to sources of Maritime Rescue, the immigrants were initially located by Ferry Fortuny near the island of Alborán and later rescued by the vessel Guardamar Caliope, which has transferred them to the Port of Motril, where they arrived after 23 ,15 hours.
Immigrants have been placed at the disposal of the National Police in the temporary reception center available in the Granada dock.
