The National Police has arrested A.S.M., a 34-year-old neighbor of the Almeria capital as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of mistreatment and abandonment of animals, after leaving a tree tied to his pony without food and with a broken leg.
The Police Station of Almeria has informed in a note that the agents had knowledge of the presence of a pony injured and abandoned in a vacant place of the Rambla de Belén de Almería, an animal tied, without food and that could not support the left front leg.
Once the animal was transferred to the Zoosanitary Center of Almeria, agents of the Police Station of Almería met with the center's veterinarian, who through a report certified that he had malnutrition and a fracture in his left front leg, which he tried to heal with an artisan splint and caused an inadequate welding of the hoof, remaining rigid at 90 degrees preventing his support.
The police investigations led to the identification of the current owner of the animal, who also had not changed the ownership of the equine in the microchip.
The detainee, who has been taken to court, has donated the animal to the Zoosanitary Center of Almería, where he will be given the necessary care.
