The government of the Argentine province of Salta (northwest) and the Canadian company Alliance One Tobacco signed today a collaboration agreement for research and commercialization of medicinal cannabis products in Argentina.
The Minister of Public Health of Salta, Roque Mascarello, and the representative of Alliance One Tobacco Argentina, Alan James, agreed to conduct research on the use of medical marijuana in patients with refractory epilepsy, in accordance with the rules of the province and the Ministry of Argentine Health.
"We made the decision to work collaboratively with Alliance, a Canadian company based in Salta, which will provide us with a stable formula that will ensure the supply of high quality oils for Salta patients," said Mascarello, according to the state agency Télam.
The agreement indicates that a relationship will be established that provides a "reliable and transparent source of supply of these products for the first trials", as well as for future studies that will foreseeably lead to the commercial production and supply of cannabis products. medicinal.
"There are 27 patients that we have in the registry of the province with this pathology and under treatment with medicinal cannabis oil," said the head of the Epilepsy program in Salta, Juan Pablo Zorrilla.
