Argentina adds one death and 75 new cases of COVID-19, with 820 in total

Argentina added 75 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, so the total number of infections by the virus is 820, while one person died to bring the deaths to 20, official sources reported.

The daily report released by the Ministry of Health showed that, for the first time, the central province of Córdoba leads the daily number of new infected, with 18, while the province of Buenos Aires recorded 16 new cases and the capital had 13.

The deceased, whose place of residence was not disclosed, was a 58-year-old man who had close contact with a previously confirmed case.

He had a history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

The authorities continue with intensive measures to reduce the circulation of the virus in the country, where community transmission was found in Buenos Aires, its homonymous province and conglomerates in the province of Chaco (north).

Two new provinces that until now had no cases, San Juan and La Rioja (both in the north), confirmed their first contagion.

The rest of the new affected come from Santa Fe (northeast, 13), Chaco (4), Tierra del Fuego (south, 4), Corrientes (northeast, 1), La Pampa (center, 2), Mendoza (west, 1) and Misiones (northeast, 1),

The Argentine government led by Alberto Fernández decreed compulsory social isolation nine days ago and has achieved a drastic reduction in the mobility of the population.

This morning, the Minister of Health, Ginés González García, said that from now on it is possible that the number of cases will expand, partly because the country has 35,000 new reagents to identify the virus that have just been distributed throughout the country. .

He also indicated that experts recommended extending the quarantine, which was in effect until March 31, and a presidential announcement is expected to confirm it.

This Sunday, in addition, Fernández announced in separate decrees that the payments of rents and mortgages are frozen until next September 30.
