The Turkish football club Basaksehir has announced on Tuesday that has sanctioned Arda Turan, one of its players, with a fine of 2.5 million lire (about 370,000 euros) for his assault in a fight in a bar last week, that investigates the Turkish Justice. The facts that are imputed to him happened in the early morning of last Wednesday, when Turan had a fight with the singer Berkay Sahin. Supposedly, after Turan made repeated sexual propositions to Özlem Ada, Sahin's wife, both faced each other and, after exchanging insults, the player broke the singer's nose with a headbutt. Then, he followed him to the hospital, where he fired a gun at a photocopier, causing no injuries.
"Our board of directors met on October 15 at 7:30 p.m. in an extraordinary meeting, the only item on the agenda being our player Arda Turan, and several decisions were made," Basaksehir said in a statement posted on his website today. .
"We want to let you know that the facts reflected in the press regarding the performance of our footballer, who was three days of permission for the matches of the national team, are not compatible at all with the ethics and professional concept of the football club Istanbul Basaksehir, "reads the text.
