The National Court has shelved the investigation for the attack of a supposed terrorist who was killed after assaulting a police station of the Mossos d'Esquadra in Cornellà de Llobregat (Barcelona), once the Catalan police had concluded that he was radicalized alone and nobody induced him to attempt
In a car, which is advancing today "El País" and to which Efe has had access, the criminal chamber of the National Court shelves the open case against Abdelouahab T., who was killed by an agent of the Mossos d ' Esquadra after he tried to stab the cry of "Allah" on August 20, 2018.
In this case, a court of Cornellà already filed in October last year the case open to the agent who shot the alleged terrorist to consider that he acted in self-defense to an "imminent risk", not only for her but also for their colleagues, and that he did not fire until using the firearm was "his last option".
Parallel to the case opened in Cornellà, the judge of the National Court Ismael Moreno opened a piece for a crime of terrorism, after the prosecution argued that the attack was intended to end the life of the agent.
The family of the assailant denied from the first moment that he maintained any connection with terrorism and assured that the attempted attack was due to a personal crisis of the person involved.
Finally, the criminal chamber of the National Court has archived the case after the Mossos d'Esquadra contributed last March a report in which they conclude that it has not been possible to confirm that the assailant "was influenced by any person or group for the radicalization in Islam, neither induced nor pressured to commit the terrorist attack ".
According to the report of the Mossos, which appears in the summary of the case, Abdelouahab T. demonstrated a "significant increase" in his interest in the Muslim religion three months after the Cornellà attack and until "minutes before" committing it.
Specifically, the assailant killed in June of 2018 installed an application on his mobile that is a reference for information on Islam, which he consulted 104 times until the day of the attack, since his last connection occurred minutes before entering the police station.
The assault took place on August 20, 2018 when Abdelouahab T., who had suffered a personal crisis, showed up at the outer door of the Mossos police station in Cornellà and, once inside, he took out the knife and approached centimeters. from the checkpoint where the agent in charge of the reception service was and pounced on her at the cry of "Allah", to try to nail him.
According to the recording of the security cameras, the alleged terrorist pursued the agent through the police until she was cornered, which caused the mossa to shoot the four shots that ended his life.
The assault came three days after the first anniversary of the Las Ramblas bombing in Barcelona and the level of terrorist alert located at point 4 on a scale of 1 to 5.
The USPAC union, which has exercised the legal representation of the agent who killed the assailant, has celebrated that the National Court has "dispelled any doubt about the terrorist's intention to end the life" of the police.
USPAC also regretted that the Generalitat has not appeared as an indictment in this case, which in its opinion demonstrates "once again" the "absolute laziness and incompetence" of the Interior Minister, Miquel Buch, in charge of the department, since it is "more concerned" by their "own partisan interests" than by the defense of the Mossos d'Esquadra collective.
This union has also requested that the Ministry of the Interior award the agent with an Encomienda, as well as a public pronouncement in its favor by Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska.
