The storm this Wednesday is causing various incidents in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, as well as several small claims that have been followed by floods in points such as the tunnel of Julio Luengo or Paseo de Chil; as well as faults in the circuits of the traffic lights in Mesa y López, Avenida Juan XXIII and Garden City, in the surroundings of Insular Stadium. The electric current has also been affected by the storm that affects the Archipelago, as it is in the Barranco de la Ballena, where the Hospital Doctor Negrín.
As a result of the rain, the hospital complex has suffered a few minutes of electrical shutdown at approximately 12:00. To this has joined a failure of the safety system of one of the emergency generators that has occurred when activated, which has caused a large column of black smoke, visualized from different points of the high zone of the capital, what has caused the alarm between the sanitary personnel and users.
On the other hand, the cover of the hall of the Hospital has also been damaged by the accumulated water of the morning storms, to such an extent that it has ended inside the premises. Fortunately in this area of the complex there is no welfare department.
Negrín maintenance service has already resolved both major incidents, which at no time have impaired the daily functioning of the care management, as reported by the persons in charge of the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands.
