The National Taxi Association (Antaxi) announced on Tuesday thatwill appeal to the courts the four-year transition period for VTC licensesthat was granted by the Government in the decree law approved last Friday, because "the expectations of a right are not compensable".
In a statement, the president of Antaxi, Julio Sanz, has asked the local and regional administrations "the maximum possible involvement » at the time of establishing the restrictions to the VTC according to the authorization made by the decree law. "VTCs are the only transport that is not regulated at the urban level despite carrying out most of its activity in this area," said Sanz.
Antaxi will ask the High Court of Justice of Catalonia to lift the precautionary measures to the regulation of the VTC in the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB) and it will appeal the granting of the VTC authorizations that are currently in process.
Sanz has valued the norm approved by the Council of Ministers – and will have to validate Parliament before the end of October – because «Resolves, even with nuances, the normative asymmetry existing between the taxi sector and the VTC ».
