A fire declared this afternoon in the province of Segovia is affecting an area of pine forests near the Royal Site of San Ildefonso-La Granja, declared a Biosphere Reserve, in the Guadarrama National Park.
This protected area is also threatened by the flames in its Madrid slope, due to another fire declared around 2 pm in Miraflores de la Sierra (Madrid).
The Junta de Castilla y León has reported that in the La Granja fire, pines have already burned, although at the moment it is not possible to determine the origin or the surface that is burning, in a very busy area at this time, without incidents have been recorded or homes have been affected.
The fire began after 3 pm and there have been fire fighters from the Junta de Castilla y León and the Ministry of Agriculture, with five helicopters and two amphibious airplanes, as well as land brigades.
In addition, Civil Guard agents control the area and have joined the firefighting tasks of Segovia, Civil Protection of San Ildefonso and volunteers.
With unfavorable wind, the smoke column can be seen from the surrounding municipalities, even from the capital.
