Ana Patricia Botín, guest on "Planeta Calleja", sails to Greenland

The president of Banco Santander, Ana Patricia Botín, will sail to the Qaleraliq glacier, in Greenland, in the "Planet Calleja" program where she will walk on one of the oldest ice masses on the planet to spot the polar ice cap and verify the effects of global warming.

Botín thus joins a list that has had fifty guests in the six editions of "Planeta Calleja", including Pedro Sánchez, David Bisbal, José Coronado, Santiago Segura, Chris Hemsworth, Fernando Alonso, Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría, Edurne Pasabán, Bertín Osborne, Mercedes Mila or Dani Rovira, among others.

According to Cuatro in a note, it is an expedition proposed by the program director, the adventurer Jesus Calleja, who will take the senior executive to check with her eyes the consequences of the global rise in melting temperatures in the Arctic regions .

In the program, which has just been recorded, Emilio Botín's daughter and the travel expert have navigated through one of the Arctic fjords until they reach the Qaleraliq glacier and embark on a trekking route to a Nunatak, a peak surrounded by continental ice.

In the risky journey they have been overcoming cracks and dangers over one of the oldest frozen masses on the planet. Botín and Calleja have been able to contemplate the 'inlandsis' or Greenlandic polar cap, which covers about 80% of its territory, and found how its thickness has been reduced by climate change.

In addition, they have visited some of the most emblematic places on the island, such as Qassiarsuk, where Norwegian merchant and explorer Erik Thorvaldsson, known as Erik the Red, founded the first Viking settlement in Greenland.

They have also lived together with a Greenlandic cattle family, to experience their way of life and how they have suffered climate change in their day to day and have seen the thaw from a kayak, raffling icebergs.

The expedition has collaborated with the Greenland Tree Project, an initiative led by Jason Box, one of the world's leading climatologists, with whom both have talked about their plans to reforest Greenland to try to neutralize greenhouse gas emissions.

Ana Patricia Botín is the last name added to those announced in the seventh season, which will begin with Asier Etxeandía, to continue with Sandra Barneda, Malena Alterio, the brothers Jorge and César Cadaval (Los Morancos) and Pablo Chiapella.
