Ana Mena's first words after being confirmed for Sanremo 2022: "It's a dream come true"

Ana Mena speaks after her confirmation as a participant in the next edition of the Sanremo Italian Song Festival. The Malaga singer has published a new publication on her official Instagram profile in which she has expressed how she feels after the announcement that the RAI has made this past Saturday: "They gave us some of the most exciting news ever and one that I have wanted for a long time.".
"I am delighted and honored to have been chosen by Amadeus (host and artistic director of the event) as a competitor for the 72nd San Remo Festival. Italian song has always been a source of inspiration for me. I have admired her since I was a child, thanks to my father who made me listen to and discover many beautiful songs and artists from this country ", the artist continued in this post.
The jury of the second edition of 'Idol Kids' on Telecinco qualifies Italy as his second home, adding that its culture, its history, its beauty and its people fascinate him more and more: "Four years have passed since I sang in Italian for the first time and since then my love for Italy has always grown. I have worked very hard, and I dedicate this important milestone to my family and to all the people who support me in Spain and Italy, two wonderful countries, united by a unique musical tradition in the world".
"For me it is a dream come true to be in Sanremo, the Festival that I have been watching streaming from home with my family for a long time. I hope to live up to it, since this is also the way to thank all the people who support me and that make me feel, even in Italy, at home ", concludes his writing.
One step closer to Eurovision
The Italian RAI has announced this Saturday that Ana Mena will be one of the 22 artists who will compete in the next edition of the Sanremo Festival 2022, which will be held next February, as revealed by Amadeus, its host and artistic director.
The Malaga artist and jury of 'Idol Kids 2' will compete alone against 21 other artists in the legendary musical contest, among which are Fabrizio Moro and Mahmood, representatives of Italy in the 2018 and 2019 editions, respectively, of the Eurovision Song Contest, although, yes, the songs with which they will take the stage of the Ariston Theater in Sanremo are not yet known.
In this way, Ana Mena is one step closer to the Eurovision Song Contest. In the event that the Sanremo Festival 2022 wins, the singer would have the priority to represent Italy in the European competition, which, precisely, will be held in Turin next May. It should be noted that the winning artist of the Italian competition may decline the offer, since he is not committed to going in such a case.
Ana Mena's participation in Sanremo 2022 completely rules out the possibilities of participating in the 'Benidorm Fest', and likewise those of representing Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest. The bases of the preselection that RTVE is preparing stipulate in its section 2.A that "Those who are participating in other competitions or calls to represent another country in Eurovision will not be able to participate in the contest ".
