Directors, actresses and personalities from the world of cinema dedicated words of admiration to Christopher Plummer, one of the highest rated actors in the entertainment industry who passed away this Friday at 91 at his Connecticut residence (USA).

Ana de Armas, Julie Andrews, Ridley Scott, Helen Mirren, Chris Evans, Shirley MacLaine … are some of those who expressed their sorrow for firing an actor who immortalized characters from well-known films such as ‘The Sound of Music’, ‘The Fall of the Roman Empire’, ‘Beginners’ and ‘Knives Out’.

“Thank you always for your laughter, your warmth, your talent, your stories about Marilyn, the vitamins when I got sick, your patience and your company. I will always think of you with love and admiration,” wrote de Armas.

The Spanish-Cuban actress accompanied her words with some photographs in the recording studio of ‘Knives Out’ (2019), the tape in which they recently agreed.

Although Plummer’s most iconic screen companion was Julie Andrews, who gave life to the sweet nanny who woke up the love of a rigid family father that the actor played in ‘The Sound of Music’

“I treasure the memories of our work together and all the humor and fun we have shared over the years,” said the actress. After the premiere of the legendary musical in 1965, Plummer and Andrews forged a friendship that lasted over the years, as shown in photos together at recent events.

Filmmaker Ridley Scott joined the mentions. “What a boy. What a talent! What a life. And I was fortunate to work with him less than 2 years ago and I had a wonderful experience,” recalled the director.

At the age of 87 and about to turn 88, Plummer was commissioned by Scott to record all the scenes in which Kevin Spacey appeared from the tape ‘All the Money in the World’ (2018), after firing the latter for his sexual scandals.

Plummer had two days to learn the script and nine to complete filming. He met all the deadlines, taking a subsequent Oscar nomination.

British Helen Mirren also highlighted to Variety magazine her commitment to the profession: “His art was total. (…) He was intrepid, energetic, brave, knowledgeable, professional and a monument to what an actor can become” .

Mirren’s husband, Taylor Hackford, seconded his wife’s words: “Plummer knew all the written acting tricks. Even the ones that weren’t.”

One reason he was Shirley Maclaine’s favorite, “a cynical wit,” said the actress.

Elijah Wood, Josepgh Gordon-Levitt, Rosanna Arquette, Anne Hathaway, and many other names joined in the dedications.
