An intentional fire burns one hundred hectares in the Sanabria Lake Park

A forest fire has razed nearly one hundred hectares of unforested forest in the natural park of Lake Sanabria at the height of the municipality of Porto de Sanabria (Zamora), where the fire started last Tuesday afternoon intentionally.

The fire, which has already been extinguished, has affected the scrubland of "low ecological value", as assured this Thursday to the journalists the territorial delegate of the Junta de Castilla y León in Zamora, Alberto Castro.

He explained that the flames spread quickly due to strong winds that complicated the work of extinction, although the drop in night temperatures helped to minimize the damage of the fire.

In the work of extinction intervened so much means of the Meeting of Castile and Leon like a brigade of reinforcement of forest fires of the Ministry of the Environment coming from the base of Tabuyo del Monte (León).

Alberto Castro has indicated that since the beginning of the year a hundred wildfires have been declared in the province of Zamora and most of them have been intentional.
