An earthquake of magnitude 6.8 shakes the southeast of Turkey

An earthquake of magnitude 6.8 has shaken the southeast of Turkey today and has been felt in large parts of the country and even in neighboring Iraq and Syria.

The earthquake was felt around 18.00 GMT and the epicenter is near the town of Sivrice, in the province of Elazig, according to the state news agency Anadolu.

There are still no data on possible victims or material damage.
