That is, 15.45 euros. The increase is 3% from 15%. That 15% commission is not fixed: it varies depending on the product or seller. Suppliers on Amazon will be able to choose whether to assume it or pass it on to the consumer.

Amazon has communicated the change to its sellers through an email entitled “Upcoming changes in rates in Spain after the introduction of the tax on certain digital services.” The tax came into force on January 16 and will not be settled until April, at which time the multinational will begin to pass it on. The decision is consistent with what has been done in other countries with similar rates, such as France or Italy.

Amazon belongs to the Spanish association of digital companies, Adigital, which has always positioned itself against the “Google rate”. In October, when it was approved, this association published a statement with its position in which it warned of the “harsh consequences” for the Spanish economy that this “unilateral application” of the tax would have “without waiting for an agreed solution at the international level.”
