The sixth edition of Fábrica Fest Plus, a multidisciplinary project organized by Fábrica La Isleta, celebrates its debut today with a format on-line as a result of public restrictions and capacity limitations imposed by the health crisis by the Covid-19. With a program of around thirty events in seven of the islands until October 5, all concerts will be broadcast on streaming, with a chat in which artists and the public can interact before the concert and at the end of it, and which can be followed through the Fábrica La Isleta channel on the portal Youtube previous purchase of tickets on their website.
The organization informs that this will be the platform for the concerts, and that the user will be able to view it up to 48 hours after their celebration. “A formula that the festival will maintain as long as the new regulations on the capacity of events remain in force to stop the advance of Covid-19”, say the promoters.
The opening of this sixth Factory Fest Plus, today Saturday at 7:00 p.m., has the Amaguk group as its protagonist, which will exclusively present its first album. The band, formed in the Netherlands by Alba Gil Aceytuno, on sax and keyboards; Alex Coulon on drums and percussion; and Daniel Denis on guitar and effects, has developed a show full of powerful original compositions shaping his modern, fresh and unique sound, where improvisation and arrangements are the fundamental pillars.
A young band that has already managed to establish itself as one of the promises of jazz in Holland by participating in festivals such as North Sea Jazz, Music Meeting and Cutting Edge, who have toured Greece and London, in addition to completing two tours in the Canary Islands. In this sense, it should be noted that Amaguk won the award for best soloist, and was chosen as the audience’s favorite band at the Erasmus Jazz Competition held in Rotterdam.
Lute and violao
The live music program continues tomorrow Sunday, also in streaming from 7:30 p.m., with another of the highlights that this unique edition of Fábrica Fest Plus brings: Jonay Mesa & Jason Luis. A totally new sound on the international jazz scene, according to the organization, which translates into the use of unusual instrumentation such as the violao and the lute. Its two members, who have managed to combine their own songs with original versions, will launch their first record production with a series of songs composed and produced in equal parts and chosen for this Insomnia, name of this project in a clear reference to the night in which his works were conceived.
Women have a prominent presence in programming. Among other artists, the flutist María Toro, who in a quartet format presents a flamenco jazz project with Canarian artists with two dates on the 12th and 13th; or the dancer Amanda de Paula, who takes the flamenco show to Fábrica La Isleta on October 2 The roses.
In addition to the activities on the opening weekend, the festival has scheduled educational activities including master classes and workshops with invited artists.
