The assistance of the candidate of PP for Barcelona to the general elections, Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo, to an act at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), in Cerdanyola del Vallès, has caused tension when more than 200 students have protested their presence.
The candidate has made a statement before entering the event, as planned, and has managed to enter the hall of the Civic Plaza with the leader of the Catalan PP, Alejandro Fernández, the UPyD MEP Maite Pagaza and the mayor of Barcelona, Josep Bou, helped by escorts and Mossos d'Esquadra.
To access has crossed the group of students, which has caused the moments of more tension, and once inside, a score of Mossos have begun to guard the entrance and there have been blows against some students.
Fifty police officers have had to stop student protests demanding the release of imprisoned politicians and insulting the popular candidate. Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo herself has spoken about it on Twitter and has described the protesters as "totalitarian niñatos"
