The president of the Basque PP, Alfonso Alonso, today has virtually closed the possibility of supporting the Basque accounts of 2019 by stating that "collaboration with the Basque Government is becoming impossible" because of the offer of the PNV as a "facilitator" of the General Budgets.
Alonso has made this warning in a press appearance in Vitoria in which he has made it clear that the PP has no intention of meeting again with the Minister of Finance and Economics, Pedro Azpiazu, to negotiate Basque budgets if the PNV does not retract of the pact of new status that reached with EH Bildu in the Self-Government Paper.
The position of the PP forces the Basque Government to seek support to get the accounts forward in EH Bildu or Elkarrekin Podemos, since the parties that comprise it, PNV and PSE-EE, are in need of a seat to have a majority in Parliament Basque – they count with 37 of the 75-.
"We have supported the PNV for two years, but until now we have come in. They can not use the loyal, sincere and responsible support of the PP to agree with Bildu here and with Podemos in Madrid," he said in relation to the budget agreement signed between the Executive of Pedro Sánchez and Unidos We can, in his opinion, be illegal, generate economic uncertainty and increase taxes on the middle classes.
Alonso has insisted that he has not begun any negotiations with the Basque Government and that there has only been a meeting with the councilor because the PP maintains its condition that the PNV backs down on self-government.
