Almost 15% of the child population between the ages of 5 and 11 has received a dose of the covid vaccine


14.63 percent of children in the Canary Islands between 5 and 11 years have so far received a first dose of covid-19 vaccine, has informed the Ministry of Health.

The vaccination teams of the Canary Health Service have administered 20,027 doses in that population segment, while vaccination of people of other ages who require the first, second or booster dose continues.

As of Tuesday, 1,683,998 people who have already received the complete vaccination schedule had been immunized, representing 80.28 percent of the target population of the Archipelago.

Of the doses administered, 357,197 are booster doses, intended for people over 50 years of age, vaccinated with AstraZéneca or Janssen, regardless of their age, and for health and social care personnel, among others.

People aged 50 and over can walk-in to vaccination points on all islands for their booster dose.

There are 1,743,020 people who have received at least one dose, which represents 83.09 percent of the population over 5 years of age, and 1,683,998 people have been immunized with the full schedule, 80.28 percent.

Of the vaccination groups 1 to 7 (residents and nursing home staff; health personnel; large dependents and caregivers; vulnerable people; groups with essential functions and people at very high risk) and 9 (population between 50 and 59 years old) were find vaccinated with two doses between 99.5 and 100%.

In the rest of the age groups, the situation is as follows:

–Group 8. People between 60 and 65 years old: 84.02 percent with at least one dose and 69.42 percent with a complete regimen.

–Group 10. People between 40 and 49 years old: 61.06 percent with at least one dose and 86.20 percent with a complete regimen (including those immunized with Janssen, which was originally a single-dose vaccine).

–Group 11. People between 30 and 39 years old: 67.32 percent with at least one dose and 64.08 percent with a complete regimen.

–Group 12. People between 20 and 29 years old: 63.63 percent with a dose and 58.96 percent with a complete regimen.

–Group 13. People between 12 and 19 years old: 81.19 percent with a dose and 78.66 percent with a complete regimen.

–Group 14. People between 5 and 11 years old: 20,027 people have received at least one dose, 14.63 percent.
