The Castellón town of Almenara has been temporarily cut off by road and rail after at least 164 liters per square meter of rainfall that have been recorded in just three and a half hours, although the access from Valencia by the N-340 has already been reopened after ten o'clock at night.
This has been explained to EFE the mayor of the municipality, Estíbaliz Pérez, who has ensured that the emergency device will remain active throughout the night, although at this time the intensity of the rain is much lower.
We are now working on trying to open the other communication channels of the municipality and at the same time the Consistory calls for prudence to the neighbors, as the red alert continues to be triggered by heavy rains throughout the province.
The device is formed by the municipal works brigade, nine local police and Civil Protection troops.
Almenara has been one of the municipalities most affected by heavy rains in the Valencian Community, as 164 liters per square meter have been recorded in three and a half hours, which is the highest value of rainfall in less than twenty-four hours in the municipality since October 24, 2000.
