The Catalan Alex Ollé, one of the founders of the company La Fura dels Baus, premieres today in Japan his version of Turandot by Puccini. Ollé had already opened the XXII season of the Teatro Real last year with Faust by Charles Gounod. In that case, the montage was inspired by Goethe's original text, but ended by presenting a "Steve Jobs" protagonist who tried to bring a machine to life. This time, with Turandot, he remains faithful to the original proposal of the Italian composer, so the work ends in a terrible way. A happy ending was not an option.
