The Government of the Canary Islands, through the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies, has declared, as of 00.00 hours of February 14, the situation of wind alert in El Hierro, La Gomera, La Palma and Tenerife.
This decision is made taking into account the information provided by the Meteorology Statal Agency and other available sources, and in application of the Civil Protection Plan by Adverse Meteorological Phenomenon (PEFMA).
Observations: South and southwest wind, average speed 30 – 50 km / h without ruling out locally stronger intervals. Maximum gusts 60 – 90 km / h. The wind will affect to a greater extent the midlands, the high areas, the summits, and the slopes:
– North and east of El Hierro and of La Palma.
– North and west of La Gomera
– Santiago del Teide, the municipalities of the north of Tenerife, and part of the municipalities of El Rosario, La Laguna and Santa Cruz de Tenerife (high areas, midlands and the northern slope).
