Airbnb announces the indefinite global ban on parties and events in its accommodations

Airbnb announced this Friday in a statement, the global ban on all kinds of parties and events in those accommodations advertised on the platform. It has also set the maximum occupancy at 16 guests per accommodation. In a statement, Airbnb has specified that this prohibition will apply to all future bookings, and will be kept indefinitely until further notice. Spain is among the countries chosen for the pilot project of this measure.

In this sense, Airbnb has recalled that it has already announced in our country the restriction on reservations of entire accommodations made by guests under 25 years of age near their place of residence. “The objective is protect local communities and, at the same time, allow younger guests to continue booking accommodation outside their area of residence ”, they have pointed out from the platform.

From the platform they have highlighted that «take the necessary measures against the guests and hosts if complaints are received from neighbors »and reaffirmed their commitment not to use the party accommodations.

In this sense, they have pointed out that these measures are part of a set of decisions to avoid inconvenience to neighbors and “promote social distancing” such as reviewing high-risk bookings and restrictions on reserving entire accommodations in your local area to guests under the age of 25 without a history of positive reviews.

Airbnb has ensured that “Unauthorized parties have always been prohibited in the accommodations advertised on the platform “and, as an example, they have added that 73% of the accommodations already veto it in their House Rules” and the vast majority of guests respect these rules and their neighbors. ”
