Air Europa and Copa Airlines announce new code-share agreement

The Panamanian Copa Airlines and Air Europa have agreed on a new shared code that will take effect from next June 3, when the Spanish airline will begin operations in Panama.

The Panamanian airline said on Tuesday that the agreement with Air Europa will include its code on Copa Airlines flights to and from San Jose (Costa Rica), Managua (Nicaragua), San Salvador (El Salvador) and Guatemala City (Guatemala).

This will allow its customers in Europe "to connect quickly and efficiently through the Hub of the Americas in Panama City, the connection center with the largest international air network in Latin America that includes 81 destinations in 33 countries of North, Central , South America and the Caribbean. "

Copa Airlines, a subsidiary of Copa Holdings S.A., highlighted that this alliance will provide passengers of both airlines with the facility to purchase a single ticket for their trip, as well as dispatch the luggage to its final destination.

"This agreement between Air Europa and Copa Airlines is an excellent option that offers benefits for those who travel to Spain from Panama and the rest of the region," said Air Europa commercial director, Imanol Pérez.

He added that now Air Europa passengers "will have access to new destinations in Latin America through the Hub of the Americas", and "that the connection with Air Europa to Madrid will allow Copa Airlines passengers to connect with our 23 destinations in Spain. and 15 destinations in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The senior vice president of Commercial and Planning of Copa Airlines, Dennis Cary, stressed that "this new alliance with Air Europa reinforces the presence of the company in Spain and also strengthens our connectivity at the national level in this relevant country."

Copa Airlines and Copa Airlines Colombia, subsidiaries of Copa Holdings, have one of the youngest and most modern fleets in the industry, and a punctuality close to 90%.
