The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has raised the possibility of organizing «a program of stays in farms » as a way to attract more young people to agriculture and incentivize generational relief. An “innovative” resource that includes a recent report prepared by the department of Luis Planas and which was presented this Tuesday.
Under the title “Study of training needs of rural youth” the document seeks to be the reference in this type of policy in Spain for the next CAP (2021-2027). The Ministry has stressed that “training is a great opportunity for young people, since a higher qualification of professionals in the sector contributes to increasing the profitability and competitiveness of farms.”
The study also seeks the promotion of initiatives both from public administrations and from the field of the agri-food sector that pursue quality training, which is both accessible and adapted to needs.
The aforementioned report carries out an analysis of the training needs of young farmers and ranchers, detailing the most demanded content, according to the most current trends in the agri-food sector. It also analyzes the processes of incorporation into agricultural activity in recent years. In the same way, it incorporates the responses of almost 300 young farmers on this matter.
