Aena won 1,018.5 million euros in the first nine months of the year, which represents an increase of 5.5% compared to the same period of 2017, thanks to the positive evolution of the business, the decrease in financial expenses and, in the opposite direction, a higher expense for corporate tax.
The gross operating profit, ebitda, reached 2,032.2 million euros -including 59.8 million due to the consolidation of the Luton airport in London-, which represents an interannual increase of 4.3%, reported today the company to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).
However, the EBITDA margin was reduced from 62.9% to 62.5%, after operating expenses increased by 4.6%, to exceed € 1,820 million, as a result of higher traffic volumes. , the improvement of the quality of the services provided and the greater cost pressure that is reflected in the new contracts.
The turnover increased by 5%, up to 3,250.4 million euros, highlighting the evolution of commercial revenues -which represent 27% of the total- that experience a growth of 8.5%, with 871.5 million.
Aena has indicated that the positive evolution of traffic at Aena airports has contributed to the increase in revenues, affected by the 2.22% reduction in airport tariffs as of March 1, 2017 and 2.22%, from the same date of 2018.
It has also highlighted the advance of 8.6% of Aena's international business, to 180.7 million euros in revenue, where the contribution of Luton was 152.8 million (10.5% more), as well as real estate services, with an increase of 13.4% (50.4 million).
These last two lines of business recorded increases in EBITDA of 28.6% and 18.6%, respectively.
The cash generation of the company stood at 1,772.7 million euros, 2.8% less than the 1,823.3 million registered in the first nine months of 2017, due to the collection last year of the tax refund on companies corresponding to the year 2015 and for the change, in 2018, of an airline in the form of payment.
Excluding both extraordinary effects (148.7 million euros), operating cash flow would have increased by 5.7%, Aena said in his statement.
The net financial debt was of 6,565 million euros compared to 6,948 million at the end of 2017, with which the ratio of debt to ebitda has decreased from 2.8 times to 2.6 times at the end of September 2018.
Regarding the passenger traffic registered in the airports of the Aena network in Spain, in the first nine months of 2018, the figure stood at 204.1 million passengers, 5.5% more than in the same period of the year. last year.
International traffic grew by 3.5% and represented 70% of the total, while the national traffic increased by 10.6%.
Including data from Luton airport – with 12.7 million passengers (2.8% more) -, the total number of Aena customers amounts to 216.8 million, 5.4% more than in the same period of 2017.
Aena has also communicated the appointment of Juan Ignacio Díaz Bidart, through the co-optation procedure, replacing the proprietary counselor Tatiana Martínez Ramos and Iruela resigned.
Aena has also changed its registered address from Calle Arturo Soria 109 in Madrid to Peonías Street 12 in the same municipal district, having moved to this last address its presidency, operational directorates and all the personnel of its central services.
