About 7,000 women join a feminist chain in Madrid

The women demanded that the 8M be extended throughout the month of March

More than 7,000 women have starred on Saturday, February 8, a feminist chain convened by the 8M Madrid commission that has traveled a large part of the capital to demand that this claim be extended throughout the month as a “feminist revolt.”

Dozens of Asturians displaced by bus to the capital participated in the initiative. Since 12.00 the chain has run through Alcalá street, Paseo del Prado, Atocha round and Toledo, Bailén and Opera street, until reaching Puerta del Sol. “With this feminist chain we want to inaugurate a month of feminist revolt in which companions from other provinces accompany us to make visible the feminist struggle that is broad, diverse and very global.

That is why we need much more than 8M, ”said Ana, from the Feminist Assembly of Tres Cantos. In the same vein, Rafaela Pimenter, from the Domestic Territory Collective of the 8M Platform, who has claimed the “rights of women” through this feminist chain.

The participants have come to this mobilization with purple clothes and umbrellas and have organized themselves in different thematic sections, dedicated to the claims for the right to housing, against job insecurity, for the rights of pensioners and those of domestic workers , for care and for feminist education.

Other stretches of the chain have also addressed ecofeminist, anti-racist and dissent claims, with a segment dedicated to the feminisms of neighborhoods and towns. This action has marked “the beginning of a month of feminist revolt”, in which decentralized activities will take place and around different thematic axes under the slogan “With rights, without barriers, feminists without borders”.
