Vox has filed this morning an appeal to the Constitutional Court against the Government “for taking advantage of the state of alarm to shield Pablo Iglesias at the National Intelligence Center (CNI) ”. The match of Santiago Abascal consider that Pedro Sánchez He has resorted to “a trick to favor his partner” and maintains that “you cannot get out of this crisis with institutional degradation”.
This controversy started on February 25, when the Council of Ministers approved the incorporation of the leader of Unidas Podemos and second vice president of the Executive to the CNI. The entity already had the presence of the first vice president of the Government, Carmen Calvo.
These regulations did not contemplate the presence of two vice-presidents at the CNI, although other positions did: “The Commission will be chaired by the vice-president of the Government appointed by its president and made up of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Defense, Interior and Economy, as well as well as by the Secretary General of the Presidency, the Secretary of State for Security and the Secretary of State Director of the National Intelligence Center, who will act as secretary ”.
Decree of economic means to alleviate the Covid-19 crisis
Vox appealed the appointment of Iglesias to the Supreme Court, considering that the presence of two vice presidents in the CNI was irregular. But on March 17, the Sánchez Executive issued a decree on economic measures to try to alleviate the crisis caused by the coronavirus. In that decree he introduced a final provision to modify the CNI law and thus facilitate the presence of Churches in this body.
The new wording of the law establishes that “the Commission will be chaired by the Vice President of the Government designated by its President, and made up of the Vice Presidents designated by the President of the Government, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation, and Defense, the Interior Minister and the Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, as well as by the director of the cabinet of the Presidency of the Government, the Secretary of State for Security and the Secretary of State Director of the National Intelligence Center, who will act as secretary ” .
Abascal’s party considers that the CNI issue “lacks any connection to the serious health, social and economic crisis it is trying to cope with” and recalls that these types of decrees are intended for “circumstances of extraordinary and urgent need such as the crisis of the Covid-19 but in no case do they justify the inclusion of an issue unrelated to the health crisis such as the presence of the Podemos leader in the CNI commission ”
“The extraordinarily serious situation created by the rapid spread of the coronavirus does not allow the Government to act at will, in violation of the Constitution. You cannot get out of this crisis with institutional degradation, nor can it be used to fulfill the aspiration for power of one of the members of the Government, ”indicated the formation of the far-right in the appeal that he has filed before the Constitutional Court.
