Ábalos highlights the reopening of the Recoletos tunnel of the Cercanías service

The Minister of Public Works, José Luis Ábalos, said on Sunday that the reopening of the Recoletos tunnel of the Cercanías service will bring greater safety, reliability and more frequencies to the network and will better connect the municipalities of the Corredor del Henares with the north of Madrid.

Ábalos has manifested itself in a tweet that coincides with the reopening of the tunnel this Sunday after the renovation and modernization works were undertaken, which includes an extra service along the O'Donnell contour road.

The section was closed since last June 2 for the works, which have meant an investment of 45 million euros.

Thus, services are resumed on lines C1, C2, C7, C8 and C10 in the Recoletos tunnel, which had remained without rail service.

The Recoletos tunnel, over 7 kilometers long, connects the Atocha and Chamartín stations through the Recoletos and Nuevos Ministerios stations.
