The Minister of Development, José Luis Ábalos, confirmed today that from December 1 will be able to circulate through the AP-1 (Burgos-Armiñón) without paying toll and has advocated to agree on the future of highways and motorways, the only infrastructures transportation that is intended to be free.
The road network, including highways and highways, "is the only transport infrastructure that is intended to be free", when the rest is paid, said the minister, who recalled that by the use of ports, airports and the railways are paid different fees or charges.
In addition, except in the toll motorways, in the rest of the roads there is no contribution from any of the users, "I no longer say the neighbors, if not the tourists or commercial-trucks-", which produce a deterioration of the via and without any reversion, has asserted.
In the press conference after the Council of Ministers, Ábalos has insisted that the decision not to extend the toll road concessions that will expire during the current legislature be maintained and, in some cases, have already been extended 24 years more than initially planned.
The affected highways would be the AP-1 Burgos-Armiñón, whose concession ends on November 30, and the AP-7 Tarragona-Alicante and AP-4 Sevilla-Cádiz highways, whose concession period ends on December 31, 2019.
"We are not going to extend the concessions that expire in the current legislature, they will be released and free to use," said Ábalos, who has invited political groups to reflect on the sustainability of the general road network, in particular. of the high-capacity roads -autovías and autopistas.-
For this, the socialist group has called for the creation of a subcommittee in Congress, said Abalos, who recalled that the high capacity network, which adds 20,000 kilometers, has not stopped growing, while budgets for the maintenance of roads.
He recalled that there are penalized territories and territories without tax, "which implies discrimination", which is why he has advocated agreeing between the different political formations an "egalitarian" and rational model in which it is committed to its sustainability and away from the idea of doing "political projects" around a toll.
