A court in Herning, Denmark, has convicted a 36-year-old nurse for admitting that she took her underage child half a liter of blood a week for five years.
The court assured that the woman put in serious danger the life of her son during these five years. The woman did not file appeals after being sentenced to four years in prison. "It was not a conscious decision, I do not know at what point I started doing it, I spilled the blood in the bathroom and threw the syringes in the trash," said the woman at the trial.
Psychiatric experts have determined that the nurse suffered from the 'Münchhausen syndrome', a rare condition that consists of cause injuries deliberately to draw attention to your own health. The boy, who is now seven years old and lives with his father, suffered intestinal disease from an early age, but doctors could not understand why he was losing so much blood.
