The Spanish patrol boat P-71, "Serviola", has released on Tuesday a Nigerian merchant ship hijacked by pirates for four days in the waters of the Gulf of Guinea, according to the Defense Staff.
The liberation of the ship has occurred during its deployment on the west coast of Africa under the command of the Defense Staff, indicates in its Twitter.
Likewise, the General Staff of the Defense in its Facebook informs that the patrolman carried out cooperative security activities when it located the merchant who had been kidnapped for four days.
The crew of the Spanish patrol boat detected that the ship sailed without transmitting in the Automatic Identification System (AIS) and that a fast boat was moving erratically in the vicinity.
The patrol boat "Serviola" contacted by radio with the crew of the merchant, who confirmed the hijacking and that the boat had gone away when noticing the presence of the ship of the Spanish Navy.
The captain of the merchant ship later stated that no member of his crew had suffered physical damage during the four days of the kidnapping, according to Facebook.
