A person has died in a fire that occurred today in a house in the town of La Llagosta in Barcelona, where two people have been affected by the smoke, according to the Fire Department of the Generalitat.
The fire, whose causes are unknown for now and which is already under control, has been declared in a house located in Plaça Catalunya de La Llagosta, where eight firefighters have been deployed.
One person has lost his life in the fire and two others have been poisoned by smoke, one of them has not required hospital admission and has been treated in the same place of the accident, while the other, a local police of La Llagosta, has had to be evacuated to the Mollet Hospital.
The fire has completely burned one of the floors of the fifth floor of the building, ten floors and four houses in each of them.
The firefighters are now reviewing the rest of the houses of the property to verify that there are no more injured and if there have been structural damage.
The City Council of La Llagosta has decreed a day of mourning tomorrow, Sunday, for the mortal victim of the fire and the flags of the municipality are already flying at half mast.
Also, it has suspended the parliaments that the local authorities were going to pronounce this afternoon at the end of the traditional Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos in the town.
The interior minister, Miquel Buch, has moved to La Llagosta to be interested in the work of extinction and the state of the injured, as well as to express their support for the mayor of the town, Óscar Sierra (PSC).
To the place of the fire nine equipments of the Firemen of the Generalitat have been displaced, five patrols of the Local Police, two of the Mossos d'Esquadra and two units of the System of Medical Emergencies (SEM).
