The Cucuruga nursery school in Esparreguera (Barcelona) has closed after registering a positive case of COVID-19 in one of the four children attending the center.
Last Tuesday, June 23, it was detected that a child had a fever, the control, isolation and information protocol was started and the center has already been closed preventively pending the results, which confirmed the positive last Friday.
In a statement, the mayor of the municipality, Eduard Rivas, has called for calm and explained that “security and prevention protocols have worked remarkably and, thanks to this, it has been possible to act quickly isolating the case, informing families and reporting to the competent authorities. “
After confirmation of the positive, the children and teachers of the affected class will have to be quarantined for 14 days and if during this time they have symptoms they will have to go to the emergency department and explain that they have been in contact with a coronavirus positive.
The mayor stressed that this case should serve as an “alert” to “continue to maintain all the active prevention and security systems, and to check how the return to school could be next September, when the ratios in the classrooms they will be much higher. “
After the quarantine period, the consistory has indicated that the suitability of reopening the center will be assessed again based on the families concerned.
